Cause I'm Right Darn It!

So Mr. X and I got into a "debate" tonight about his inability to put a trashbag into the trash can after he takes out the trash. And me being the stubborn girlfriend that I am will, instead of putting the bag in myself, either leave the item on the counter or if it's something messy actually put it in like a walmart bag and put it beside the can. Crazy right?? But I swear I have a perfectly valid reason for it. To clarify since I'm off work and not getting a paycheck at the moment I'm not contributing towards the mortgage or utilities. I have covered all groceries, baby items, and made sure my bills are paid up till I get another check though. Now, b/c of my lack of income though and the fact that I'm home all day I've been deligated to handle all household cleaning. And X takes it seriously. I questioned why he couldn't even put the condiments back in the fridge from when he made a sandwhich and was told thats my job until I'm paying the bills. blah blah blah I won't even go there with the whole equality thing and crap. It's easier to just clean things up. Sadly I'm sure I'll still be doing all the cleaning even after I'm back at work. Anyways, the only thing X does do is take out the trash. And since part of taking out the trash is replacing the bag....well I stand firm that he should complete the job. Only fitting right? I mean thats his one "job". And if the situation were reversed I know he would do the same darn thing!!

Ok, I know this is pathetic right?? I guess our problems could be worse.

Woah Boy!!

Had to take baby E to the doctor today to check out a nasty rash he had in his diaper rash. Got all that straightened out and all is well again in his little baby world. Probably explains his being more fussy over the weekend b/c now he's back to his happy content self. yea!! Dare I hope he'll sleep well tonight???

Anyways, my news of the day is how much my big boy now weighs. You'll remember he was just 9lbs as of last Monday when we went in for his check up. Drum roll please...............he's now 10lbs 11oz!!! The boy gained almost 2lbs in a week!!!

So that old saying must be true.....Milk does a body good! And my boy surely loves his milk! LOL

5 Years Ago Today

Time for me to do a look back over the years as my oldest baby turns 5 today!! I can remember when she was born, thinking ahead to this moment, wondering what she would be like and how it would be. Trust me, it's never what you think it might be! I of course imagined this sweet little girl who listened to everything I said and never talked back. I got a sweet girl who is very loving, especially to her brother, but she can talk back with the best of them! Wonder where she got that from. I still love her though. What I could have never imagined is how my life would change when she arrived. Gone were the days of wondering from job to job and home to home. In a way...she saved me. She made me grow up at the ripe old age of 23. Although I may regret the circumstances surrounding her conception...I could never regret having her. She's my baby girl, my monkey. The one who drives me batty but can still melt my heart.

Anyways, photo's from the last 5 years....

Just Call Me Bessie

Apparently they weren't lying when they said "Milk...it does a body good!" LOL Baby E went in today for another weight check. he hadn't quite made his birth weight when we were there last week so we had to go for another. And has Jenn H said....HOLY COW...Literally! E is now 9lbs, having gained 11oz in 7 days. I nearly fell over in shock when we read the scale. I mean, I figured he was getting enough to eat as he would feed until he was "drunk" passed out and I can typically pump 4-5oz at a time, mostly from the opposite side. But wow...i wasn't expecting that much. So needless to say both my kiddos are happy, healthy, and love to eat!

10 days and 17lbs

Baby E is not quite 2 weeks old and I finally ventured onto the scale at home. I'm now 1lb under my starting preggo weight! Yea!! Granted, this soon weight isn't really an indicator since muscle weighs more than fat. I still have the pudgy belly that will slowly firm back up. Well as much as it can after 2 kids and some serious weight gain over the years. I'm thankful though that I lost so much last summer before getting preggo with E. That helps I'm sure. Not to mention...it's so true that nursing helps with weight loss. It has to be. Considering how much I can eat in a day...I can put any guy to shame. I'm trying to be conscious of eating things high in protein and not eat only junk food. I need the calories though so it all works out. Ending on a good note...I can comfortably wear my pre-preggo jeans and shorts. Well some of them. Sure beats wearing maternity stuff still!!

A Bit of Humor

I figure since I've been blogging nothing but baby stuff for awhile I'd lighten it up a bit with some humor. These came through on an email this morning....I especially find the 4th one funny.

1 Week Old

Baby E is now a week old. Man the time goes too quickly. Things are going pretty well though. He nurses really well, really only cries when he is hungry or needs a new diaper, and is just content to sit and watch whats going on around him. He loves to snuggle though and I find myself more than willing to comply. ***Sigh*** A week already?

Moby Time

Broke out the moby wrap this mornign to try it out when taking J to the bus stop. Took a few tries to get it where I think it should be and I think we got it right. E didnt complain and slept the whole time snug as a bug. I was comfortable. Didn't feel awkward and or like I needed to support him in any way. So I think we got just being mobile in it down. Next task....nursing in it. Now that should be interesting.

Here's a pic for review. Just ignore the fact that I haven't made it to the shower yet and need a few more hours of sleep!

Amazing

I see amazing things every day, especially now that E has joined us. My favorite?? Watching a father cuddle with his son for hours. Even more amazing?? I didn't even think to snap a picture. Go figure!

I did manage to snap these though.

Home Sweet Home

three days in the hospital was more than enough and we are now finally home! Only a few hours of course but definitely much easier to relax. Can't imagine we'll stay up too late, E and I at least since I'm sure we'll be up during the night at least once or twice. I'll post more pics again later this weekend. he's too adorable to resist!

And A Child is Born

WOW
Can I just leave it at that phrase?? LOL So yesterday was the big day. I'm still amazed that it's all over and we now have our baby E in our arms. Following is the story of how he got here and all the joys that go with it. LOL
Needless to say I got NO sleep Tuesday night. Well some, I think maybe about 2 hours total. I dozed off on the couch and was woken up at about 1am with contractions that I now know really were the real thing since I've gotten to experience them unlike with J. I timed them till about 4am where they were reallys tarting to hurt, decided to take a shower and then if they still came would call the doc and see about going to the hospital early. Course after the shower everything slowed down. I was actually able to lay down on the couch and doze off for a few minutes before the alarms started going off to get us up. X got up and around and we left the house about 6:30am. I had called the hospital a little before to make sure we were still good but they couldn't tell me until closer to 7am. So we headed in with teh hope that it would all work out.
Got to the hospital at 7:30am and was told we would have to wait about 2hrs. They had several c-sections and although there was a room available there were not enough nurses to cover yet. Once the c-sections were done then they would bring us back. So we hung out in the waiting room watching tv until about 9am when X decided he needed breakfast and would torture me with watching him eat Sausage and Biscuits with gravy. Only a few minutes after we sat down though the nurse called to tell me that they were ready for us. So we unloaded the car and headed to the maternity floor.
Got settled in the room and started on Penicillan about 9:30am and just settled in for the long wait ahead. I had tested positive for Group B Strep and had to take the antibiotics before he was born which took about 4hrs. Doc didn't want to start things too quickly b/c of how fast J came when I was induced with her. So we watched a couple movies...our hospital is nice. We have real cable with a bunch of movies you can pick from like On Demand stuff.
About 11am they started me on Pitocin. I was having contractions but not very strong ones. It didn't take too long to start feeling them but it was manageable so I held off on getting the Epidural. About 2pm the 1st round of meds were done and the doc wanted to break my water. I requested to get the epidural 1st b/c at that point the contractions were really starting to take a toll. So the epi guy got there and on the 3rd attempt got everything going nicely. it didn't take long for that big initial dose to kick in and I was numb from the chest down. i could still feel enough to move my legs but they just felt like giant logs attached to my body.
About a little after 3pm the doc came in and checked me at 5cm and broke my water. I managed to doze off for about an hour after that which was nice to get a bit of a nap in and just shows ya I wasn't feeling a thing. At about 5pm the doc checked me again and we had only made it to a 6. I tried not to act disappointed cause I was so hoping it would just go fast like J. Little did I know. A few minutes later I started feeling more of the pressure down low so the nurse checked me again and in 15mins had gone from 6 to 8. The pressure kept building and no matter how many times we hit that epi button it wasn't even touching it. I couldn't feel any contractions but i could feel EVERYTHING else. With in 30 minutes we were at 9.5 and then only a few minutes later a 10. So basically from 6-10 in an hour.....how's that for quick?
Got things set up to start pushing and I knew even then this was going to be rough. I could feel every bit of the pressure although it hadn't reached a point of being pain just yet. After a couple pushes doc said his head was turned sideways and looked to be pretty big so it was going to be some work to get him out. GREAT! LOL She did some things to help get him turned and then we were on our way again.
At this point I could feel the pressure of the contractions but not the pain of them so I knew when I needed to push. Right at the end though....I seriously just wanted to take it all back! The pain of him coming had set in and I could feel every bit of him coming. I remember at one point it was almost over and the nurse told me to wait for the next contraction and I told her heck no...he was coming NOW. I had to get him out and get it over.
And at 7:15pm it was. Baby E arrived screaming!! He weighed in at 8lbs 8oz, 21 inches long. He really does have a big head and looks so much more solid than J. Even though there is only a pound difference between the 2 he feels so much heavier. Maybe it's just stocky??
So far everything is going great. I was up about an hour after moving around and feeling totally fine. No tears or anything so there is really no pain at all. Just some minor cramping but thats normal. I can get up and around on my own and have only taken a Motrin although I probably could have gone with out it. We're working on breastfeeding and he is getting better at it. It's a learning thing for both of us since I never did it with J. Definitely quite a feeling.
So thats it and now for the best part!!

"D" Day....

So it's finally the day...."D" day. We'll be heading out from the house here soon and keeping fingers crossed when i have to do the call ahead we'll still get the all clear. I have no idea how my cell phone service will work or if it will at all at the hospital. I do know we'll have internet access so soon as he is here and things have settled down a bit I'll post the announcement.

1st Day of Kindergarten

About an hour ago J headed off on the bus for her 1st day of Kindergarten. **Sigh** I can't believe it's here already. She was so excited too. Waking up at 6am ready to eat and get dressed. I wasn't quite that ready considering it was still almost 3 hours before the bus would be here. I know I should enjoy this eagerness to get up and get ready while I can, but then hearing "Is it time yet?" every 5 minutes gets to a mom who isn't quite ready too. I was definitely the one dragging my feet this morning. So here are some photo's of my "baby" heading off to school. I can't believe how big she is!

Say Cheese!!
